The Bridgerton Effect : Stylistically Impacting Weddings
Oh Bridgerton, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. The Netflix series that marries old timey ethereal looks with a touch of innocence but with a gorgeous and diverse cast and instead of waiting 3 hours for a kiss (eh hem Pride & Predjutice ) you get to celebrate with all your favorite people in their most passionate escapades. Move over Mr. Darcey…. Duke of Hastings is here! Can you believe I was resistant to watching it? Yup! But I caved to all the hype & gave it a chance which I am so glad I did. If you haven’t you should!
Anyways so what does this have to do with weddings. Well pop culture has a huge influence on weddings, trends & general styles so this is no different especially when it’s become such a phenominal success with an avid fan base. So warning while there won’t be plot spoilers there will be images… proceed as you see fit.
As we said the vibe is very ethereal but in an “innocent” type of way. Instead of ethereal like a boho goddess it’s more ethereal like the Rococo movement & garden delights. Draping wisteria, soft glow lighting & flowy gowns. This all carries through to the beauty side as well.
For hair expect cascading styles that start up higher on the head & cascade down along the back. Depending upon the length you desire for the cascade be prepared to look into extensions. Accessories will be making an appearance in the form of vines & bands around the front/top as well as small pins in the back of any style. There’s lots of braids & curls that are aesthetically intriguing but looks complex. The regular viewer won’t know where the style begins or ends. Buns may move up from being low buns to more centered or low-centered. They will be more polished with intentional tendrils . The down/half down hairstyles were simple with only a soft bend, large sections & clean.
Makeup is expected to be soft with a flushed glow. Hints of soft colors (blush, lilacs, golden hues) that have romantic tones & glow. The skin while not dewey looks fresh faced and overall natural. This isn’t to say lashes are going away (they look better in pictures anyways) but don’t expect Bridgerton couples to request glam eyes. Nudes & pink lips with a smidge or shimmer/shine .
You can be inspired however you want to be & take any elements you like to morph into your own unique look. While everyone may not hop on the Bridgerton train if it just doesn’t match their aesthetic I expect there to be an influx of requests in this style. So in summary- cascading, more centered buns, lots of clean details, braids, fresh faces, colors that soft, natural glow & pinky tones.
