Rent Your Hair Extensions : How It Works
Hair extensions can level up a look. In some case they’re literally necessary to make the look happen. Regardless of whether it’s an absolute need or a definite want clients often say “what am I going to do with them after the wedding?”. You could wear them for a date night or maybe another wedding but then there’s the self reflective moment of “will you really?”. Honestly many won’t . For many they will sit in a drawer only to be used once in a blue moon. So then what’s the solution? RENTALS, my friend ! If you’re scratching your head and wondering how, that’s ok. Let’s walk through step by step how to have the best of both worlds.
First we will color match your hair to ensure that the extensions will seamlessly blend. These extensions will be there and waiting for you on your wedding day where a hairstylist will use them in your wedding day updo. From there you’ll have an amazing day with gorgeous hair and not a stress in the world. But what now?
On the wedding day you will be provided a pre-paid envelope. In it will be the hanger and “suitcase” that the extensions live in when we travel with them to keep them orderly along with an instruction card just incase during the joy of the wedding day you forget all that we’ve told you about the next steps. After the wedding day you’ll put your extensions in the packaging ( in or with with the hanger and “suitcase”) and drop it off at a USPS office within the designated amount of days.
The package then arrives to us! We will wash ( twice) and condition the extensions, towel dry, rough dry and round brush. This ensures they are squeaky clean, free of knots, no residual dampness and smoothly prepped for the next client. They’re then hung back up on our beautiful hair rack that I’m mildly obsessed with for it’s aesthetic appeal ( not weird to any neighbor peeping in our window ha ha).
Some questions we commonly get are in regards to hygiene. According to the CDC and our trusted manufacturers the shampoo cleans away all debris, germs, product etc from the hair extension. Before we clean them though they are inspected for anything alarming (like nits) . Before they’re inspected they hang out in the packaging for a week from the date it was sent to ensure that if there was anything on them it would die. Before they’re ever mailed though we inspect the clients’ hair and scalp. If there are any lesions or potentially contagious situations (such as lice) we do not install them. So there are 2 levels of inspection, a level of quarantine and then the double cleaning . PHEW! I’d say they’re more precariously clean than any hat you try on at a store, right?
Another question we receive is in regards to the quality. The extensions are all 100% remi hair and we take every step to maintain their quality with premium products and steps to ensure their longevity. Upon receiving we always inspect to verify all berets and tracks are secure. Eventually ( years if not decades down the road) they will be replace when we feel that their quality is fading at which time they will either be repurposed for hair padding or steeply discounted sale.
The final question we often receive is in regards to our stock. We have an extensive stock spanning a variety of colors. We track who is renting what extensions so that we do not worry about what happens if they were to get lost in the mail etc and it impacting another client. We have back stock as well that is our emergency stock and not rented out except in the case of an emergency.
So are you curious ? They are a fantastic way to have the best of both worlds. You luxe, voluminous, complex bridal updo and not the commitment of new clutter taking up drawer space. All of which is entirely stress free because we have cosmetologist professionals to not only guide you but walk hand in hand every step of the way. Who’s ready to rent some hair extensions?
