An Extra Step Because We Care

During the time of Covid-19 ( yes, I’m tired of that phrase too), hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness is more important than ever. Our work is an incredibly personal and in a way even an intimate experience. We are literally very close to you, touching your hair and skin and sharing the same space. Sanitation and cleanliness should always be at the forefront of any hairstylist or makeup artists priority list but I think this virus has really jolted all of us into remembering that even more so.

In cosmetology school you MUST learn all about sanitation and all the horrible things that could happen IF you don’t. The state board; while it does look at proper techniques is laced heavily with safety and sanitation so regardless of how on point your skills may be if you’re treating your mannequin grubby during the practical exam you will without a doubt fail. So yea, sanitizing has been seared into our brains!

When Barbicide offered a refresher course and certification it seemed like a no brainer. Even though we have always set this standard as bar that must be exceeded it never hurts to do a refresher especially when it’s relating to killing virus, sanitation vs cleaning , mixing ratios etc. There’s a lot of technical things to deliver the cleanest, most effective results. So all of us at The Stylist Abroad went and became certified ! Why? Because we care and that extra step to keep you safe will be worth it. I hope other stylists and companies are taking this extra step too. You deserve to feel confidently safe with your professionals and if that awareness is the silver lining of all this so be it.
