Bungee Brilliance

Do you ever feel like a hair tie just never gets tight enough? Or is your tail so thick that standard tools break or loose their estaticty to stretch? Or is your ponytail just kind of womp womp when you want the UMPH?! Fortunately there’s something that can be done about that- all of that actually!

Enter in the newest creation from Hairpins by Damian Monzillo- bungees! Now offered in a variety of colors to be disguised in any hair tone they come in either 10cm or 20 cm. See the whole selection here.

They are durrable & reusable without loosing their shape or elasticity. So regardless of how thick your hair is or how often you use them they will be just like new. You may be wondering how to use them? So simple you’ll be surprised. Gather your hair in a “ponytail shape” & latch 1 hook into your hair. I prefer the top as my starting point. Then wrap the cord snuggly around the “ponytail shape”. Your density & length of the bungee will determine how many wraps you make but very quickly you won’t need to worry about holding the “ponytail shape” to keep it in that shape. Then as you’re nearing the end take the hook from the other end & insert into the hair near the initial one & latch onto the original hook. These 2 hooks will be displacing force in opposite directions keeping their latch strong & the ponytail taught. I know you probably never thought you’d be using physics in your hair styling….but here we are!

Fun fact: use a longer than necessary bungee to put more pop in your pony. What the what? That’s right you can create a ponytail that has more height at the base with this simple tool. If you wrap the bungee around & around it will build up a firm structure that the weight of the hair won’t be able to droop essentially acting as a support. So then when the hair does come out of the bungee structure as a ponytail it only then arches into the iconic pony swoop. Without a structure the hair will begin to swoop immediately but there will be no space between the base of the head & the ponytail so instead of it looking like a peppy high-pony it will just look droopy. Personally this is one of my favorite uses as every other option out there results in a headache or failure halfway through your day.

It can even be used in updos to create a stronger structure with less pins. Anything we can do to effectively use products & keep our clients comfort at the forefront is a win.
