Floral Crowns, Clips, Hair Pieces & More Oh My!

I want to let you in on a secret…. I love flowers, especially in bridal. Ok, maybe it’s not that much of a secret if you take a look at so many of the photos I post. But let’s be real, they’re gorgeous! I don’t care whether its a giant flower crown, sprigs of baby’s breath, suchlents or some other botanical goodness they’re all visually swoonworthy. What does it take though to create such a living piece of art and what are some things you should consider? Well I decided to go straight to the source and ask the experts.

Recently I conducted a podcast interview with the owners and creators of Sweet Root Village ; a reputable, award winning , visionary florist in the DMV area who have made their fair share of floral bridal accessories. We discussed everything from the planning process of choosing the “right” flower for your style and project, to the downright logistics of bringing it all together. If you are considering florals at all or even just curious take a listen here.

The biggest takeaway from the podcast…. Break the boundaries of what’s expected. There are so many creative options out there so don’t think you are stuck doing only what’s already been done. You can expand beyond and create something beautifully new. Like what you seen? That’s A-ok too! Ultimately it’s all about your vision anyways right?

As for how this relates to hair, well I’m all sorts of on board! If you like the idea of flowers or something floral-y in your hair but you don’t know exactly what or just how much botanicals you really want present don’t worry because your hairstylist (or me!) is here to help you through that process. As I say on so many other things don’t worry about logistics because that is literally my job. Lets take your ideas, your mood, your vibe and we will figure out exactly what completes the puzzle best. A little piece of advice from me to you, if you know without a doubt you love the look and want flowers in your hair choose vendors (hair and flowers) who are equally excited. You should be able to tell from the images they post their opinion on the topic as it can be a bit divisive to some. While I advocate for building a team that fully supports your vision and this rings true across the board I feel like it should still be mentioned here. Definitely don’t compromise on your style if not everyone seems the same joy in it…. Just pick the right dream team.

So learn everything you need to know about floral accessories for your big day and take a listen. It could open a whole new world of beautiful possibilities you never even knew you loved.
